ART IN HAVANA - 5 Days / 4 Nights

DAY 1 - We will meet at Miami International Airport in Terminal G at 7:30 am. A member of our team will meet the group with a sign and guide you through the check-in process. Depart Miami International Airport After a 45-minute flight we will arrival in Cuba’s José Martí International Airport. After clearing Cuban Customs, our Cuban guide will greet us outside the terminal. Then we will take a private bus for our first view of the City on our way to have lunch at El Aljibe restaurant that features a 62-year-old secret recipe for roast chicken that has drawn the likes of Hollywood star.

After lunch we will check into our accommodations on a beautifully restored Bed and Breakfast.

In the evening you will be picked up by a fleet of convertible Classic Cars for an unforgettable tour of Havana on our way to welcome drinks at Hotel Nacional, mojitos in the gardens overlooking the Malecon. After, we will walk to dinner to paladar Café Laurent. (L,D)

DAY 2 - After breakfast, a guided tour of The National Museum of Fine Arts of Havana in Old Havana, a museum of Fine Arts that exhibits Cuban art collections from the colonial times up to contemporary generations.

Then a guided Walking Tour of Old Havana that will introduce us to the historical center; its four main squares and its current urban development. During our walk we will stop at: Taller Experimental de Gráfica (Experimental Printing Workshop.) an art cooperative that features the next generation of Cuban lithographers, La Fototeca, created in 1986 to preserve, study and promote the country’s photographic patrimony and Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales an art gallery that occupies three levels of a partially restored 18th-century townhouse mansion that holds temporary exhibitions of both renowned and emerging artists, with a focus on experimental art.

We will even have time to visit Hemingway’s favorite bars where you have the options to taste mojitos at La Bodeguita del Medio, and daiquiris at El Floridita. Then, a group lunch in Restaurant La Pastora at Complejo Morro-Cabaña.

After lunch, we will walk to visit to the studio of contemporary artist, Duvier del Dago inside the complex.

DAY 3 - After breakfast, we will visit Instituto Superior de Arte, one of the best art schools in Cuba. We will be given a guided tour of the conservatory-like institution that offers courses in music, dance, and visual arts. After the tour, we will visit Aimée Garcia y Carlos Montes de Oca’s studio.

Lunch at paladar La Cocina de Lilliam. After lunch, we will visit the following artist studios:
• Lidzie Alvisa
• René Francisco
• Donis Dayan
• Ernesto Javier Fernandez

At the end of the day, we will have dinner at paladar El Cocinero to enjoy cocktails and excellent food. Then we will go to the famous Fábrica de Arte Cubano, a meeting-place where the best of the island’s avant-garde arts can be enjoyed, with all the artistic manifestations under the same roof and with prices making it accessible to the majority of Cubans (B, L, D)

DAY 4 - We will start the day with a tour of Modern Havana and the neighborhoods of Vedado and Miramar, including the Malecon seawall, University of Havana, Cristobal Colon Cemetery, with a stop at Revolution Square.

Later on, we will visit one of the Cuba’s best known galleries, Galería Habana (Havana Art Gallery). This gallery opened in 1962 to promote Cuban talent. Artists such as Wifredo Lam, René Portocarrero, Mariano Rodríguez and Amelia Peláez have shown their work here, establishing this gallery as one of Havana’s best.

After our gallery visit, we will visit the following artist studios:
Lazaro Saavedra (National Visual Arts Award, 2014)
Frank Martínez, contemporary artist

Lunch at Paladar Vista Mar.

Afternoon free (Optional, Casa de la Música, Dance Club Matinée).

DAY 5 - After breakfast we will visit Finca La Vigía Museum, Earnest Hemingway’s former residence. Then visit Havana’s largest arts and crafts market, Los Almacenes San José. This is an excellent opportunity to see Cuban handicraft and talk to the artists. (B)

At 2:00 pm we will depart to the airport for our flight at 6:00 pm and arrives in Miami at 7:00 pm

The balance is due 60 days prior to departure, or within 72 hours of booking, whichever is later. Private Homes / Bed & Breakfas.
We have secure a group of homes in the best area of Havana that have been completely renovated into Bed & Breakfast that have between 5 to 7 private guess rooms. Each room has their own private bathroom and many have safes and mini-bars.

We have contract with the major US Government Authorized Charter Companies. We utilize different airlines: American Airlines, Easter Airline and Jet Blue that have planes ranging from B737-800 to their B777 jumbo jets.
